We almost lost Joel in a shopping mall yesterday. We were coming round a corner and when I turned to look, he wasn't there. Now he's recently been insisting that I let him walk (yeah, for about 5 minutes before he asks to be carried), and he's been even more insistent that we should not hold hands in public (now why does that sound so familiar? He obviously gets it from his father). And if you have known us as parents, you would have seen that we take a pretty relaxed attitude with the kids.
Well, maybe TOO relaxed.
The 10 minutes that I went up and down the mall looking for him must have been the most intense 10 minutes of my life. Not surprising, when your emotions are spinning into overdirve while your mind is going to extremes imagining the unimagineable, the unreasonable and the unsurmountable.
Someone finally brought him to information, where mother and son were happily united. He was just a little bit shaken - I thought he would have been a bit more emotional - but all through the day he kept recalling the event in this matter-of-fact manner:
"Jojo run away... then cry... then no more mommy... must follow mommy..." and so on. Such a cute kid.
That was as real as it gets. So thankful to God alone for all good things come from His hand, for shielding us from harm, and for keeping us from the way of evil.

Oh my gosh - how scary!!! SO glad you found him. This is the worst feeling - even for a couple of minutes, but for TEN minutes in a MALL??!! Oh my gosh - so glad you found him!! That layout is awesome, too, by the way! :)
